Œdema during Recovery from Anæmia Due to Red Cell Regeneration Hypoproteinæmia

چکیده
Holmes (1944) described a case of gross ascites and oedema in a case of microcytic anaemia during recovery with treatment. A low vegetarian diet was suggested as a contributory factor. Davies (1945) described a case of macrocytic anaemia which developed oedema similarly while responding to treatment with anti-anaemic principles. In both these cases the blood showed hypoproteinaemia with the oedema. Correction of the same with plasma transfusion led to prompt disappearance of the oedema. Das Gupta and Chatterjee (1947) described a similar case in which no treatment

Red Cell Stroma and Hemoglobin Metabolism in Anemic Dogs
Red cell stroma protein and hemoglobin can be labeled by feeding C(14) lysine during periods of active blood regeneration following anemia. Stroma proteins are produced and a maximum concentration of the C(14) label appears 2 to 3 days earlier than with hemoglobin,-which is to say that stroma building precedes hemoglobin construction. The concentration of isotope in stroma protein may exceed it...
متن کاملEffects of Inflammatory Cytokine Tumor Necrosis Factor-α on Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell Gene Expression: A Mechanism for Liver Regeneration
Introduction Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) which is produced in abundance in the normal adult liver, is deeply involved in hepatocyte survival, growth, and differentiation during liver development. IGF-I plays the roles via the receptor (IGF-IR) signaling pathway. IGF-IR unlike IGF-I is expressed strongly in the developing liver, but much more weakly in adults. Objective: We hypothesi...
متن کاملConversion from Platelet-Rich Plasma Platelet Production to Buffy Coat Platelet Component Production: Benefits and Limitations
Blood transfusion centers are under considerable pressure to produce platelet concentrates with high quality and safety due to the short shelf life of 3-5 days as well as possible bacterial and viral contaminations. For a variety of reasons, many Europeans have changed their methods of component production from whole blood using the North American standard platelet-rich plasma method to the buf...
متن کاملRepair of Spinal Cord Injury by Co-Transplantation of embryonic Stem Cell-Derived Motor Neuron and Olfactory Ensheathing Cell
Background: The failure of regeneration after spinal cord injury (SCI) has been attributed to axonal demyelination and neuronal death. Cellular replacement and white matter regeneration are both necessary for SCI repair. In this study, we evaluated the co-transplantation of olfactory ensheathing cells (OEC) and embryonic stem (ES) cell-derived motor neurons (ESMN) on contused SCI. Methods: OEC...
متن کاملRed Cell Stroma Protein Rich in Vitamin B12 during Active Regeneration
During active blood regeneration in anemia in dogs an increase occurs in the stroma protein of the red cells. When vitamin B(12) with radioactive cobalt is given at the start of this blood regeneration one finds concentration of labeledB(12)in the stroma protein but not in the hemoglobin. After the acute phase of red cell regeneration is ended the concentration of B(12) in stroma protein falls ...
